National Novel Writing Month

National Novel Writing Month 2010 - 30 days, 50,000 wordsNaNoWriMo is upon us once again, and this year I’m finally biting the bullet. Briefly, this is what NaNo is all about:

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

If you want to be writing buddies, I’m here. I have no plot to speak of and a character I would vaguely describe as a Filipino Australian in her early 20s. How I’ll pull 50,000 words out of this, I have no idea. But there you go. Commitment is the first step. See you on the other side of November!

It’s kind of scary, but now that I’ve decided to do it I can’t wait to start. Whether I’ll ever let anyone else read it is another matter…

I’m participating too and I just decided last week that for sure, I’m going to do it. I’m so excited to get started. I’m writing a contemporary romance and like you, I don’t know if I’ll let anyone else read it but that’s not going to stop me from writing it. =)

Good luck and I’d love to be writing buddies on NaNoWrimo! I’m going to send you a friends request.

I’m editing my first novel now…it took me about a year to write and it’s maybe 60,000 words…I don’t think I’ll be doing 50,000 in a month anytime soon. I wish I could write that fast.
